Narconon Arrowhead is a drug
rehab program in the fullest sense of the term.
Rehabilitate means to restore to a former condition or state, while program refers to a series of steps to bring about an intended result.
At Narconon Arrowhead we use a multi-phase approach to first end drug
abuse and
addiction while restoring mental and physical health and vigor with full
detoxification of the body.
We then go on to assist the individual in handling issues surrounding cravings, guilt and depression that led up to and then continued the
abuse and addiction.
Once past problems and issues have been resolved to the student’s satisfaction he is ready to move into learning tools and abilities to enable him to confront the present and to create the future he wants for himself, family, career, etc. While there are probably as many issues to confront as there are addicts and each has his own particular scene, the above is the rough outline for achieving a drug free productive life for our students, while addressing each individuals particular needs.

addiction generally occurs with those medications which suppress pain of a physical or emotional nature.
Painkillers suppress physical pain and many are taken at levels exceeding recommended dosages and tolerance builds up fast,
abuse then continues in an attempt to handle the pain, or just out of fear of future pain.
Medications such as anti-depressants are designed to suppress various forms of mental stress or duress.
Abuse of these is similar to painkillers in that dosages are exceeded and tolerance builds leading to more and more of the drug needed in an attempt to maintain emotional balance.
Prescription drug
addiction in both these cases results from trying to mask the symptoms rather than treating and resolving the underlying causes of the physical or emotional pain.
The first experience of using meth may involve some pleasure; methamphetamine however begins to destroy the user’s life right from the beginning. This all starts with low intensity use where the individual wants to meth effects to stay away, increase energy, or suppress appetite.
It is usually snorted or swallowed.
The mental and physical effects are so severe that the use quickly moves into binge use. Binge use usually involved smoking or injecting the meth allowing a stronger faster effect that quickly results in psychological meth addiction.
In high intensity use ones whole existence focuses on preventing the inevitable crash following meth use. Tolerance builds up in meth
addiction requiring more and more of the drug at closer and closer intervals. Withdrawal can be mentally and physically painful and is often accompanied by severe depression and suicidal ideation.
