Inpatient Drug Treatment Center

Narconon Arrowhead is a long term, non-traditional, inpatient drug treatment center. What this means is that alcoholics or addicts come and reside at Narconon Arrowhead for the duration of their treatment. This is a self-paced program and is governed by results rather than a set number of days in treatment. A good average is generally 90 -120 days. Non traditional refers to the fact that we do not treat addiction or alcoholism as incurable diseases. Addiction and alcoholism can be beaten for a lifetime, and without constant worry about relapse or reversion. We work on the assumption of the basic goodness of the individual and their desire to create a drug and alcohol free lifestyle. Our inpatient drug treatment center assists the individual to confront, and resolve all life situations needing addressed and so remove the need to run from them with drugs or alcohol.

There are three major components to the Narconon Arrowhead chemical dependency treatment. 1. A full and complete handling of the mental and physical cravings that come from any form of dependency. There is more to this than mere withdrawal from use, though this is a vital starting point. 2. Handling the guilt and depression that comes from the dependent life style and the damage done to self and loved ones. Most addicts, given the know-how and chance will jump at the chance to relieve these devastating feeling that have been keeping them using more and more drugs and alcohol in a failed attempt to find some relief. 3. This involves having the needed skills and abilities to fix what damage they can and then go on to create a truly drug free and productive life. Once the individual feels better without drugs or alcohol than they do with them the need for these substances fade away. This is what chemical dependency treatment is all about.

Each drug or substance can of course have its own symptoms of abuse and addiction; however there are a couple of general points that can be made about addiction. Addiction generally is a condition characterized by repeated, compulsive seeking and use of drugs or alcohol despite adverse social, mental, and physical consequences. It is usually accompanied by physiological and physical dependence with the appearance of withdrawal symptoms when the drug or alcohol is rapidly decreased or terminated. When addiction exists, the drug use controls the individual rather than the individual controlling the usage. With addiction life more and more revolves around getting and using the drugs. Family, health, career, finances, all take more and more of a back seat as important factors in life as the addiction continues to increasingly absorb the addicts attention and energies.

Drug addiction treatment to be effective needs to help and guide the individual in confronting and gaining the skills and abilities needed to resolve all areas of their lives – not merely ceasing their drug use which is only the beginning. Personal issues of nutrition and gaining a healthy balance need to be addressed. Issues of cravings, quilt, and depression resulting from addiction need confronted and relieved, legal issues often exist. Broken or strained relationships in the family and workplace need resolved. The issue of how the addict gets on with his life in a drug free and productive manner, and be happy and fulfilled doing so, can be one of the biggest issues of all. Addicts and alcoholics are often quite concerned about being miserable and suffering without the drugs or alcohol. Narconon Arrowhead is an empowering program that assists the individual in resolving each of these situations as well as others he or she may have. We don’t enforce or insist rather we help, guide, and assist the individual in finding their own unique answers that will work and more importantly continue to work for them. This helps insure a continuing drug free life as their solutions are theirs and not something dictated or enforced on them.

Drugs effects can and do vary depending on the drug (more often drugs) being abused or addicted to. All create devastating effects on health, families and careers. There are however 3 common denominators among drug and alcohol abuse and addiction. First are cravings and the often uncontrollable urge to use again. Second is the feeling of guilt resulting from the addictive lifestyle and the untold harm created for self, family, friends, and society in general. Third is the depression that inevitably results from destroyed lives, hopes and dreams. These three points left unhandled are the cause of any future relapse.
